The software giant has filed a lawsuit against Dr. Lee Kai-Fu and
Google on Tuesday. Dr. Lee is a former Microsoft executive who agreed
to head Google's future research center in China. Apparently,
Microsoft is not ready to share its brain power with any one.
Lee's career history includes research for Carnegie Mellon University,
work for Apple Computer Inc. and taking the vice-presidency of
Microsoft's Natural Interactive Services division. He has now been
wooed away by Google to run a much awaited research lab in China.
"Accepting such a position with a direct Microsoft competitor like
Google violates the narrow noncompetition promise Lee made," Microsoft
stated before accusing Google of encouraging Lee to violate the
agreement.
"We will defend vigorously against these meritless claims and will
fully support Dr. Lee," Google stated. [archive]
